BRAND IDENTITY

Bask's mission is to empower and connect women from all over the world by fostering meaningful relationships through shared hobbies and passions.

I designed a user-friendly and visually appealing mobile app that makes it easy for women to discover and bond over shared interests. The app allows users to create and join groups based on their hobbies and passions, facilitating the formation of long-lasting relationships.

My goal was to create a product that not only meets Bask's mission but also provides a positive and fulfilling experience for its users.

The project

I was approached by the co-founders of Bask to help create a digital platform for women to connect in a meaningful way. I worked closely with the Bask team to define the overall vision and mission of the product, as well as the flow and features for the MVP.

With the COVID-19 pandemic limiting face-to-face interactions, I recognized an opportunity to create a digital solution that could address the increased need for digital communication and connection. I wanted to design a product that could stand out in the crowded digital market by focusing on a female-driven approach and emphasizing shared interests and values over physical appearance.

I helped define the visual language of the app and prioritize features for the MVP, and conducted user research to understand the needs of our target audience. My goal was to create a product that not only filled a gap in the market but also provided a positive and fulfilling experience for its users.

Key goals

  • Encourage users to come as they are, the authentic self

  • Create a personalized and relevant experience

  • Allow users to create meaningful relationships

  • Create a safe environment for users

The execution

One of the key challenges we faced with the Bask app was creating an onboarding experience that was personalized and tailored to each user. We wanted to ensure that users were connected with other users who were relevant to them, while also reinforcing the idea of authenticity.

To achieve this, we designed an onboarding process that offered users a set of "Interest rooms" that were matched to their interests and preferences. These rooms were defined by the Bask team for the MVP, but users were also able to explore new topics and interests at any point.

By joining and contributing to these rooms, users were able to connect with other participants. If the interest was mutual, they could then communicate further via the Bask app. This helped to build a sense of community and connection among users, and was a key aspect of the product design.

Future ideas

As the pandemic subsides, people all over the world are beginning to return to their pre-pandemic lives and are looking for ways to reconnect with others in person. With this in mind, it will be interesting to see how the Bask app can continue to support women in building meaningful connections, both online and offline.

One potential opportunity for Bask is to explore ways to integrate in-person meetups and events into the app, in order to bring users together in real life. This could include organizing meetups around specific interests, or offering tools and resources to help users plan their own events. Additionally, Bask could also explore partnerships with other organizations or businesses that cater to women, in order to expand its reach and impact.

Overall, the Bask app has the potential to continue to grow and evolve as society adapts to the new normal and to tap into new opportunities as they arise.
